PMP (Project Management Professional)

Project Management (Global)
Credential: PMI PMP
Provider: PMI Pathway: Project Management (Global)
To earn: Meet PMI eligibility requirements, pass the PMP exam, and maintain the credential through continuing certification requirements (CCR).

A leading global project management certification emphasizing predictive, agile, and hybrid delivery, with a strong focus on real-world decision making across People, Process, and Business Environment domains.

Exams and structure

  • Exam structure: scenario-driven multiple-choice with a blend of predictive, agile, and hybrid situations
  • Core domains: People (leadership and team performance), Process (delivery and control), Business Environment (value realization and compliance)
  • Common techniques: stakeholder engagement, scope/schedule/cost control, risk responses, quality management, change control, and benefits/value delivery

Core skills you will practise

  • Leadership and team facilitation (including servant leadership in agile contexts)
  • Integrated planning and delivery control (scope, schedule, cost, quality)
  • Risk management and issue resolution under constraints
  • Stakeholder analysis, communications planning, and expectation management
  • Agile/hybrid delivery practices: iterations, backlog, adaptive planning, continuous improvement
Recommended path: practise domain-by-domain first, then move to mixed sets under timed conditions and review the rationale for every option.

PgMP (Program Management Professional)

Program Management (Global)
Credential: PMI PgMP
Provider: PMI Pathway: Program Management (Global)
To earn: Meet PMI eligibility requirements, pass the PgMP exam, and maintain the credential through CCR.

An advanced credential for managing multiple related projects and initiatives as a coordinated program, focusing on governance, benefits realization, stakeholder strategy, and interdependency management.

Exams and structure

  • Focus: program strategy alignment, governance, and benefits management across the program lifecycle
  • Program lifecycle: definition → delivery → closure/transition
  • Key themes: benefits identification, realization planning, sustainment and measurement; stakeholder engagement; program risk and change impact

Core skills you will practise

  • Benefits management and value realization tracking
  • Program governance, escalation paths, and decision frameworks
  • Stakeholder influence mapping and communications strategy
  • Managing interdependencies, sequencing, and cross-project risk
  • Transition planning and embedding outcomes into operations
Recommended path: practise governance-and-benefits scenarios heavily; PgMP questions often test decision making at program level rather than single-project execution.

PRINCE2 Foundation

Project Management Method (PRINCE2)
Level: Foundation
Provider: PeopleCert (PRINCE2) Pathway: Project Management Method (PRINCE2)
To earn: Pass the PRINCE2 Foundation exam based on the current PRINCE2 guidance.

Foundation validates knowledge of PRINCE2 as a structured project management method, including its principles, themes, processes, roles, and management products.

Exams and structure

  • Knowledge focus: definitions, principles, themes, processes, and their purpose
  • Core structure: 7 Principles, 7 Themes, and 7 Processes
  • Roles and products: project board, project manager, team manager; key registers and reports
  • Tailoring: understanding how PRINCE2 can be adapted for project size, risk, and environment

Core skills you will practise

  • Recognizing correct PRINCE2 statements and concepts
  • Understanding governance roles and responsibilities
  • Applying product-based planning vocabulary
  • Interpreting management products and controls
  • Tailoring rationale and constraints
Recommended path: master the 7 Principles, 7 Themes, and 7 Processes first, then practise recall and recognition questions under time pressure.

PRINCE2 Practitioner

Project Management Method (PRINCE2)
Level: Practitioner
Provider: PeopleCert (PRINCE2) Pathway: Project Management Method (PRINCE2)
To earn: Pass the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam (scenario-based application) based on the current PRINCE2 guidance.

Practitioner tests the ability to apply PRINCE2 in scenario contexts: selecting the best response, tailoring controls, and making governance and progress decisions under tolerances.

Exams and structure

  • Scenario focus: choosing appropriate PRINCE2 actions given a project case
  • Tailoring in practice: controls, reporting, and governance adjusted to context
  • Applying themes: quality, risk, change control, and progress in real cases
  • Stage control decisions: tolerances, exceptions, corrective actions and escalation

Core skills you will practise

  • Scenario-based reasoning using PRINCE2 principles and themes
  • Selecting correct management products and controls for a situation
  • Applying change control and progress management under tolerances
  • Balancing governance needs with delivery realities (including agile/hybrid contexts)
  • Making justified decisions in case-study style questions
Recommended path: practise case-style questions frequently and always explain why an alternative option is wrong - that is how PRINCE2 decision questions are won.

Quick guidance

Choose the right pathway

Pick based on the role you target and how you work. PMP is project delivery across predictive and agile/hybrid approaches. PgMP is program-level leadership focused on benefits and governance. PRINCE2 is a method; Foundation tests knowledge and Practitioner tests scenario-based application and tailoring.

Practise like the exam

Start with concept drills, then move to timed sets. For reporting and valuation topics, practise interpretation and justification, not only calculations.

Build a revision loop

After each set, fix mistakes immediately, write short error notes, and redo similar questions after 48 to 72 hours to lock in learning.

Keep eligibility current

Entry requirements and exam structures can change. Always confirm the latest rules, syllabi, and exam windows from the issuing body.
